Longview Lake
Longview Lake is a 930-acre freshwater reservoir located in parts of Kansas City, Lee’s Summit and Grandview in Jackson County. The reservoir is part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Blue River Project for flood control, recreation and fish and wildlife conservation.
Fishing on Longview Lake is excellent for a variety of species including largemouth bass, white bass, bluegill, channel catfish, crappie and walleye. Common carp can also be found in the lake from May through the end of the summer season.
Boating and swimming on Longview Lake is a great way to spend the day with friends or family. Two public boat moorings allow departures, and a full-service marina provides a range of conveniences including a fuel station, tackle, bait and marine supplies.
A sand-covered beach at the park makes it easy to enjoy a good tan, join in a game of beach volleyball or just relax on a lounge chair. The park also includes a pier, playground and picnic areas.

Blue Valley Park
A sexy, but small park tucked between 23rd and 24th Streets and Topping Avenue, Blue Valley Park boasts a disc golf course, baseball field, playground, and seasonal sprayground. The park also has a small fountain dedicated to the 1976 United States Bicentennial, designed by Kansas City artist Dale Eldred.
The park was first proposed in 1927 but wasn’t built until 1967. Following the War, amenities like ball diamonds and picnic areas were added.
In the modern day, there is no denying that a stroll along Topping Avenue and 23rd Street provides an excellent view of this 238-acre park.
